Michael Neff, SM in Materials Engineering, MIT

    Michael Neff graduated from MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts with Bachelors and Masters in Materials Engineering in 1977, with graduate studies in the solidification and crystal growth of metals. He is a qualified expert in Metallurgy, Concrete Materials, Failure Analysis, and Materials Processing. He has worked extensively with Failure Analysis and Microanalytical Techniques used for Materials Characterization for over twenty-five years, including many years as a consultant on the senior staff of SEAL Laboratories in Los Angeles.

    In the course of Mr. Neff’s career, he has performed over 5000 failure analyses, serving many of the Fortune 500 companies, manufacturers, and legal entities.  He is uniquely qualified in the characterization and analysis of metals, minerals and engineered materials. He has extensive knowledge of modern manufacturing processes and construction techniques and has the ability to manage large test programs related to forensic investigations of engineered materials.

    Mr. Neff founded Chemistry of Concrete, along with Dr. Keller, in 2000, with the goal of providing expert analysis for the resolution of construction defect disputes.  The company has grown in breadth and capability since its inception under their vision.
